Building 6m x 6m Pallet

We love a good challenge and very recently we were presented with another task by our customer.

We have to build 2 pallets to transport a 5 tonne sub sea umbilical that is 6 metres long by 6 metres wide. On top of that, these pallets needs to be suitable to be slung by crane. Although size is not an issue for us to build (nothing too big or too small), delivering the over-sized pallet will be. So what the Aussie Crates team do to overcome it? We decided to build the pallet from scratch at our customer’s site.

Packing team docked and build the pallet on site and then strapped the 6 metre sub sea umbilical onto the pallet so it can be safely lifted by crane onto the semi-trailer for delivery.

Although this sounds simple enough, it is actually quite tricky for us. Timbers are usually docked at our factory, and crates and pallets are usually build at our premises as well. We will then deliver the crates to our customer’s premises and send our packing team to help them pack (if they need help).

Our factory at Kurnall Road is fully equipped to build almost anything but I guess we just proved that our packing team is capable of more than what we gave them credit for. They docked and build the pallet on site and then strapped the 6 metre sub sea umbilical onto the pallet so it can be safely lifted by crane onto the semi-trailer for delivery. Keeping in mind that this was an urgent job and we needed to meet the deadline as there were many parties involved.

The job was a success and everyone involved was happy. You can always count on Aussie Crates to meet your deadline. If we say we’ll do it, you can most definitely count on us.
